Reserve Bank of India (RBI) data revealed that high-value ₹2,000 notes worth ₹5,817 crore are still in circulation in the country. The central bank had announced their withdrawal on May 19, 2023, when the total value of these notes in circulation was ₹3.56 lakh crore. RBI added that 98.37% of the ₹2,000 notes have since been returned.
