Karnataka Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao said that several hotels were found using polythene sheets to prepare idli and action has been taken in this regard. "Plastic is carcinogenic, which means that it can cause cancer. Those carcinogenic elements can enter idli," Rao said. He noted that several hotels have moved from clothes to polythene sheets for cooking idlis.
