The Abohar Municipal Corporation sealed several properties for unpaid property tax, including the Lala Lajpat Rai Mahila Hostel run by the Servants of the People Society. Acting on the Commissioner-cum-Deputy Commissioner's orders, officials launched a drive after repeated notices were ignored. The hostel, founded by Lala Lajpat Rai’s organisation, reportedly owed about ₹2.25 lakh.
