The Assam Assembly has passed a landmark Bill granting land rights to nearly three lakh tea garden workers for the first time. CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said it'll give dignity and security to the community that contributed immensely to Assam's tea industry. The land will be non-transferable for 20 years and can only be transferred within the same community thereafter.
