CBI arrested Shafat Ahmad Shangloo in Srinagar for allegedly conspiring with Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief Yasin Malik in the 1989 abduction of Rubaiya Sayeed, daughter of then Home Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. However, a TADA court rejected CBI's custodial-remand plea and ordered his release, as he was not named an accused in the case registered by the CBI.
