Intel is laying off over 5,000 employees across four states in US in July. Apart from the US states California, Texas, Oregon and Arizona, the chipmaker is also laying off hundreds of its staff from Israel. Earlier this month, Intel reportedly said it was taking steps to become "leaner, faster, and more efficient". This comes after Microsoft cut 9,100 jobs.
