A political row erupted after journalist Arfaz Ahmad Daing's house was demolished in the presence of several police personnel, with authorities stating the structure stood on government land. Daing claimed he was being targeted for his reportage, including on cross-border drug trafficking. Daing's Hindu neighbour Kuldeep Sharma gifted him a plot of land and said, "I will rebuild their home."
