Congress party has said that NIT Calicut has appointed Dr A Shaija, who praised Godse for "saving India" in a comment on Facebook, as its new dean. Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said, "This is all part of the Modi mindset - appropriate Gandhi, glorify Godse." Congress said it would launch an agitation demanding the withdrawal of the decision.
