Padma Shri awardee Saalumarada Thimmakka, fondly known as the 'Mother of Trees,' passed away at 114 in Bengaluru. She and her husband planted over 385 banyan trees between Hulikal and Kudur, nurturing them like their own children. Honoured with several awards, including the Padma Shri, Thimmakka inspired generations with her dedication to environmental conservation.
