A 2023 rail disaster that killed 57 people, mostly students, in Greece was caused by 'chronic safety gaps' that still need to be addressed, investigators said on Thursday. A head-on collision between a passenger and freight train led to an explosion, though the cause remains unknown. Most victims died in the crash, while up to seven were killed by fire.
