Taiwan's Economy Minister Kuo Jyh-huei has said chipmaker TSMC would need government's permission for any overseas joint ventures. The remark came amid reported allegations from China that island country was seeking to give away semiconductor industry to US. "No one can shake foundations of Taiwan's semiconductor industry…We have to have confidence in TSMC.. and we will support them," Kuo said.
