Uttar Pradesh Police have banned kanwariyas from carrying weapons or weapon-like items such as trishuls and hockey sticks during the annual pilgrimage. Motorbikes without silencers have also been banned to reduce noise pollution. The order, issued after recent violent incidents, stated the move aims to "ensure public safety and minimise disturbances."
