Chandra Barot, director of the Amitabh Bachchan-starrer 1978 movie 'Don', who passed away aged 86 on Sunday, worked as an assistant director on films like Purab Aur Pashchim, Yaadgaar, Shor, and Roti Kapda Aur Makaan. Born in Tanzania, Barot moved to India and started working under actor-director Manoj Kumar and also directed a Bengali movie named 'Aashrita' in 1989.
