International Cricket Council (ICC)’s plans of making the World Test Championship (WTC) a two-tier model have failed, as the apex cricket board confirmed a 12-team competition from 2027, on November 11. The three new teams that will be part of the WTC 2027 cycle are Afghanistan, Zimbabwe and Ireland, who already have Test status.
