'Heeramandi' is over-the-top: 'Umrao Jaan' director Muzaffar Ali
When asked to compare 'Heeramandi' and the 1981 film 'Umrao Jaan', the filmmaker Muzaffar Ali spoke about how his movie spoke a "different language". He said, "I have seen one episode of 'Heeramandi'. That's a different thing and an over-the-top effort. It is very difficult to compare." He further said, "It's ['Heeramandi'] too palatial and rich. I wouldn't do that."
