Snapping turtles born without gender, it's determined by climate
Snapping turtles, which are native to North America, aren't born with a set gender at all. What decides their sex isn't their genes but the temperature of soil around their eggs. It's known as temperature-dependent sex determination. Cooler temperatures result in male hatchlings while warmer leads to female hatchlings and at intermediate temperatures, nests may produce a mix of sexes.
