19th century 'Incan mummy' was actually an Aymara man: Study
I Y-001, a skull donated by Louis Kuffré in 1876, was likely an Aymara man and over 350 years old, a study published in the International Journal of Osteoarchaeology has found. It showed signs of incomplete trepanation and post-procedure survival, the research added. A tooth abscess of the I Y-001 suggests either poor oral hygiene or excessive coca leaf chewing.
