For the first time, a case of the flesh-eating screwworm parasite has been detected in a US resident who returned from Guatemala, Reuters reported. New World Screwworm is a parasite that eats cattle and other warm-blooded animals alive and was eradicated from the US in the 1960s. They rarely infest humans, but once infested, it can be fatal.
