28 people dead since electoral revision began, stop the drive: Mamata to EC
West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee expressed shock over a Booth Level Officer's death by suicide due to "unbearable pressure" of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. "28 people have...lost their lives since SIR began- some due to fear and uncertainty, others due to stress and overload," Mamata said. She asked Election Commission to "immediately halt" the "unplanned drive".
