34 Mumbai stations now ready for 15-car local trains
Central Railway has started extending platforms at 34 suburban stations in Mumbai to accommodate 15-car trains, a move prompted by June's Mumbra overcrowding tragedy. Covering routes from CSMT to Kasara/Khopoli, the project aims to boost capacity by 25% and improve commuter safety. Work involves shifting signal poles and overhead cables, with most upgrades expected by the end of the monsoon.
