40,000 Afghans leave Pakistan's Balochistan amid refugee crackdown
Nearly 40,000 Afghan nationals have left Balochistan's capital Quetta after Pakistan began its crackdown on Afghan refugees, a senior official said. According to UN Refugee Agency, between October 2023 and October 2025, 1.5 million Afghans left Pakistan either voluntarily or were deported. Pakistan hosts over 1.7 million registered Afghan refugees, alongside many undocumented migrants.
