67 brain-eating amoeba cases confirmed in Kerala
Kerala has confirmed 67 cases of amoebic meningoencephalitis, a rare but often fatal brain infection. The state has reported 18 deaths due to the brain-eating amoeba this year so far. "It enters the body through the nose when people swim, splash, or dive into contaminated water," according to Times Now. A 17-year-old boy in Thiruvananthapuram has contracted the infection recently.
