9% of MP govt staff are 'ghost' employees, part of potential ₹230-crore fraud: Report
About 50,000 employees, making up 9% of Madhya Pradesh government's workforce, are 'ghost' employees with employee codes assigned without verification, NDTV reported. The employees haven't drawn salaries totalling ₹230 crore since December 2024 and concerned officers have been asked for explanation in 15 days. "Whatever happens will be according to rules," Finance Minister Jagdish Devda said.
