Afghan taxi drivers using handmade rooftop coolers to survive heat
Amid extreme heat, taxi drivers in Afghanistan's Kandahar have started using handmade air coolers on rooftops of their vehicles. The coolers are made from scrubby barrels and exhaust tubes attached to taxis' roofs. The temperature in Kandahar often crosses 40°C, and regular car ACs tend to fail, the drivers said. One of them said, "This works better than [built-in] AC."
