Aggregators like Swiggy, Uber to give 1-2% of turnover for gig workers' welfare
The government's newly enforced Labour Codes now require aggregators like Swiggy, Urban Company, and Uber to contribute 1-2% of their annual turnover to a Social Security Fund for gig and platform workers. The contribution is capped at 5% of the amounts paid or payable to them. The four codes that became effective on November 21 rationalised 29 existing labour laws.
