AITA says Sumit demanded ₹42 lakh to play, he says 'it's standard practice'
All India Tennis Association (AITA) claimed Sumit Nagal, who opted out of Davis Cup ties against Sweden citing a back strain, demanded $50,000 (about ₹42 lakh) to play for India. "No other player asked for additional money...It's not that they don't get paid," AITA Secretary General Anil Dhupar said. Sumit responded saying it's "standard practice" for athletes to be compensated.
