Amazon to pay ₹22,184 crore to settle Prime membership deception claims
Amazon will pay $2.5 billion (about ₹22,184 crore) to settle a US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) case alleging it enrolled millions in Prime subscriptions without their consent and then made it difficult to cancel. Of the total amount, $1.5 billion will go into refunding the consumers harmed by the "deceptive" practice and $1 billion is the civil penalty, FTC said.
