Amazon trees expanding by 3.2% per decade due to climate change: Study
Amazonia shows trees increasing in girth by 3.2% per decade, a study has found. Scientists suggest rising atmospheric carbon dioxide may be driving this growth through a process called CO₂ fertilisation, which enhances photosynthesis, allowing trees to store more carbon and expand in size. The increase is seen in both towering canopy giants and smaller understory species across the rainforest.
