Army may increase Agniveer intake to fix soldier shortfall: Report
The Indian Army plans to double its intake under the Agniveer programme, raising annual recruitment from 50,000 to 1,00,000, HT reported. The move aims to tackle a shortage of roughly 1,80,000 troops in the ranks below officer level. The shortfall largely stems from a recruitment freeze during the COVID years, while 60,000 to 65,000 soldiers continued to retire every year.
