Asim Munir gets new powers as he formally becomes Pak's 1st CDF
Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari approved the appointment of army chief Asim Munir as the country's first Chief of Defence Forces on Thursday for five years. Munir was elevated as Pakistan's field marshal despite Pakistan suffering losses during India's Operation Sindoor. Pakistan changed the constitution and abolished the Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) post for Munir.
