B'desh govt revokes Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's freedom fighter status
Bangladesh's interim government on Tuesday revoked the "freedom fighter (Bir Muktijoddha)" status of country's founding father Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and over 400 senior Awami League figures, as it issued a new ordinance redefining the term. According to the ordinance, these leaders will now be classified as “associates of the Liberation War (Muktijuddher Shohojogi)" rather than freedom fighters.
