Brightest-ever fast radio burst detected
An international team of scientists, including MIT physicists, has detected an ultrabright fast radio burst (FRB) about 130 million light-years away in the constellation Ursa Major. The burst, nicknamed 'RBFLOAT' for 'radio brightest flash of all time', is the brightest and one of the closest FRBs recorded. It was precisely localised using the upgraded CHIME telescope and its Outriggers.
