Burmese pythons have cells that help them digest entire skeletons
Scientists have discovered specialised cells in Burmese pythons' intestinal lining that help them regulate the calcium in their meals, explaining how these predators digest whole prey. During an experiment, a team led by Jehan-Hervé Lignot from France's University of Montpellier, found that narrow, specialised cells in their intestinal lining played a role in digesting bones.
