Burtele Foot belonged to a human & ape-like species: Study
The 3.4-million-year-old 'Burtele Foot', found in Ethiopia in 2009, belonged to Australopithecus deyiremeda, a species showing both human-like and ape-like features, researchers said. Fossils of a child's teeth and jawbone found nearby confirmed this link. The fossils reveal that A. deyiremeda lived alongside Australopithecus afarensis, showing 2 closely related hominins coexisted in same region.
