Can bottle gourd replace blood thinners for arterial blockages?
Cardiologist Dr Amit Bhushan Sharma says that despite the high potassium, vitamin C and fibre content of bottle gourd, there is no robust evidence to support its use as a therapeutic substitute for anticoagulants in atherosclerotic disease. Medical intervention, statins, antiplatelets- and in some cases revascularisation- remain the evidence-based approach.
