Cats can develop dementia like humans: Researchers
Scientists at the University of Edinburgh found cats can develop dementia in a similar way to humans with Alzheimer's disease. On conducting a post-mortem brain examination on 25 cats, the researchers found a build-up of amyloid-beta, a toxic protein and one of the defining features of Alzheimer's disease. In the early stages of dementia, cats appear disoriented in familiar spaces.
