Chandrayaan-2 records first-ever impact of solar eruption on Moon
India's Chandrayaan-2 orbiter has made the first-ever detection of the impact of a solar eruption on the Moon. Its CHACE-2 instrument observed a rise in total pressure in the lunar exosphere when a Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) from the Sun struck the Moon. The number density of neutral atoms increased by over an order of magnitude.
