China forces Tibetans to attend state-backed Panchen Lama event
Thousands of Tibetans, including monks and prominent lamas, were reportedly compelled by Chinese authorities to attend a Kalachakra empowerment led by state-appointed Panchen Lama Gyaltsen Norbu at Tashi Lhunpo Monastery. The event, marked by heavy security, reflects Beijing's attempts to suppress Dalai Lama's influence and promote a politically aligned religious figure in Tibet.
