China's ex-agri minister sentenced to death over $37.6-mn bribes
China's former minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Tang Renjian, was sentenced to death for taking bribes worth $37.6 million between years 2007 and 2024, a Chinese court announced. The court suspended his death sentence for two years, noting he had confessed to his crimes. His sentencing comes under President Xi Jinping's sweeping anti-corruption drive which was launched in 2020.
