Chinese woman develops 'snake skin' after using 'herbal' ointment for a decade
A 40-year-old woman from China developed severe purplish-red, snake-like marks after applying a "pure traditional Chinese medicine" skin ointment for over a decade. The case drew attention on Chinese social media after her hospitalisation. She was diagnosed with secondary adrenocortical insufficiency, wherein adrenal glands fail to produce sufficient hormones essential for normal body function.
