Comet 3I/ATLAS turns bluer after reaching closest to Sun
Interstellar comet 3I/ATLAS unexpectedly turned bluer as it reached its closest point to the Sun on 29 October. LASCO data showed its blue hue was caused by strong gas emissions during perihelion. Under normal conditions, dust particles redden sunlight, making it appear red, but this emission overpowered the usual dust-induced reddening, making it appear unusually blue.
