Comet Lemmon’s tail torn off by solar wind, video emerges
Astrophotographer Brennan Gilmore captured a rare time-lapse of Comet Lemmon’s tail being ripped apart by solar wind. The event, filmed from Virginia on October 2, shows charged solar particles tearing off part of the comet’s glowing tail. Discovered in January, Comet Lemmon is nearing Earth and could soon be visible to the naked eye.
