Constipation drug lubiprostone protects kidney function: Study
A study by Japan's Tohoku University suggested that lubiprostone, used to treat constipation, protects kidney function. A study on 150 individuals with chronic kidney disease showed that participants who were given 8 µg or 16 µg of lubiprostone had slower decline in kidney function. Study found that lubiprostone boosts spermidine production, enhancing mitochondrial activity via good gut bacteria.
