A JAMA Health Forum study found COVID-19 vaccines prevented over 2.5 million deaths globally (2020-2024), saving one life for every 5,400 doses. Most benefits were among people aged 60+, with 57% during Omicron. Vaccines also saved 14.8 million years of life, underscoring their vital role in pandemic response and future preparedness.
