Dads, aunts used to be VCs: Kamath on Indian startup evolution
Zerodha CEO Nithin Kamath said venture capital used to be "an exotic term" in India around 15 years ago and "most popular VCs were dads, uncles and aunts". The funding and entrepreneurial ecosystems are now growing, with VCs moving towards more challenging areas like deeptech, he stated. "Entrepreneurship has become aspirational in parts of the country," he noted.
