Dalai Lama's successor must be approved by Chinese govt: China
After the Dalai Lama announced on Wednesday that only the Gaden Phodrang Trust will identify his successor, China said his successor must be approved by the Chinese Central Government. "The child reincarnation of...Dalai Lama...needs to be identified through lot-drawing," Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson said. The Dalai Lama had said, "No one else has any...authority" to select his successor.
