Darjeeling toy train celebrates 144 with first 'Toy Train Day'
July 4 marks the first ever Toy Train Day, celebrating the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway (DHR), a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Built between 1879–1881, this 88-km marvel connects the plains to Darjeeling using loops and zigzags to climb steep hills. A feat of 19th-century engineering, the Toy Train remains a symbol of heritage, history, and Himalayan charm.
