Dengue becomes ‘New Normal’ in US amid rising cases
Dengue cases in the US nearly doubled in 2024, reaching 3,700, up from 2,050 in 2023, according to the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention(CDC). California saw the biggest rise with 725 cases, including 18 locally transmitted. Experts link the surge to expanding mosquito populations and climate change. In March, CDC had issued a health alert amid concerns dengue may become endemic.
