Distraction from tariffs: Trudeau on Trump's 51st US state remark
Outgoing Canadian PM Justin Trudeau said US President-elect Donald Trump's proposal to make Canada the 51st state of US is a "distraction" from the consequences of the latter's 25% tariff threats. "Everything American consumers buy from Canada is suddenly going to get a lot more expensive," Trudeau told CNN. He added that Canadians define themselves most easily as "not American".
