Dwarf sperm whales release intestinal fluid to evade threats
Each dwarf sperm whale has a sac filled with dark liquid in its intestine. When threatened or escaping predators, Dwarf sperm whales release more than three gallons of reddish-brown liquid from intestines, creating a dark cloud for cover. This unique defense helps the whales escape predators. Notably, it can dive at least 1,000 feet deep in search of food.
